| You put in | Before fees | After a 0.1% fee |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | 0.00833153 ZEC | 0.0083232 ZEC |
| $100 | 0.08331528 ZEC | 0.08323197 ZEC |

| $10,000 | 8.3315 ZEC | 8.3232 ZEC |
The fee column takes 0.1% off the top first, the way an exchange does, so the coins bought are slightly fewer than the investment divided by the price.
A $1,000 ZEC trade over the last 24 hours would have lost $34.22 after fees.
- Buy. About 24 hours before the read above, ZEC was at $1,240.30. A 0.1% entry fee on $1,000 is $1.00, so $999.00 buys 0.80545029 ZEC.
- Sell. At $1,200.26 those coins sell for $966.75. The 0.1% exit fee is $0.97, so you get back $965.78.
- Result. Loss: $965.78 − $1,000.00 = −$34.22. Return: −3.42%. Break-even for that buy was $1,242.78.
Type these prices into the calculator above, with $1,000 and a 0.1% fee, and it shows the same result.
This is what $1,000 of ZEC bought at $1,200.26 is worth at eight sell prices.
Each row sells the same 0.83231966 ZEC at a different price, with a 0.1% fee on the buy and on the sale. The break-even row is the sell price where you get back exactly $1,000.
$1,000 of ZEC at eight sell prices
ZEC bought at $1,200.26 breaks even at $1,202.66 with a 0.1% fee on each side.
A trading fee is charged twice, once on the buy and once on the sale, so the sell price has to clear both before the trade makes money. Break-even sell price = buy price ÷ (1 − fee)².
ZEC break-even after fees
- 0.1% fee per side$1,202.66+0.20% above a $1,200.26 buy

Here is what Zcash is and what moves its price.
Zcash (ZEC) is a privacy-oriented cryptocurrency that originated as a fork of the Bitcoin codebase and launched in 2016. It uses zero-knowledge proofs known as zk-SNARKs to enable optional "shielded" transactions that conceal the sender, recipient, and amount, while also supporting transparent addresses similar to Bitcoin. The protocol was developed by the Electric Coin Company, with the nonprofit Zcash Foundation supporting its ecosystem. Like Bitcoin, it uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism and has a capped maximum supply of 21 million coins.

Zcash is a privacy-focused coin built on zero-knowledge cryptography, offering shielded transactions that can hide sender, receiver, and amount. Watch the regulatory climate around privacy coins, exchange listing and delisting decisions, and swings in demand for on-chain privacy. Its Bitcoin-like fixed supply cap and mining dynamics feed the longer-term story too.
