PredictIt alternatives
The best PredictIt alternative depends on whether you want more markets or no money at risk.
PredictIt is a long-running political prediction market with a cap on how much one person can hold in a contract. PredictIt alternatives go two ways. Kalshi, Polymarket and Robinhood offer wider markets for real money. BitPredict and Manifold put no money at risk, Metaculus scores forecasts, and BitPredict is the one built around crypto. Each rival fact below was checked in November 2026 and links to its source.
PredictIt is built for political events, and each person's stake in a contract is capped.
PredictIt runs under CFTC Letter 25-20, dated 14 July 2025, which says the market has been operating under the trade name PredictIt and is restricted to political events. It sets each participant's limit in any one contract at the federal limit on individual campaign contributions per election, per candidate, which it puts at $3,500 and says is adjusted over time. The same letter removed the earlier cap of 5,000 traders in a contract (CFTC Letter 25-20, read November 2026). Check predictit.org for today's limits and listings.
Two things send people looking elsewhere: the markets are political, so there is no crypto, and the limit per contract is a ceiling on how much of a strong view you can express. Which way to go depends on which of the two matters to you.
There are two ways away from PredictIt, wider markets for money or nothing staked at all.
Three directions away from PredictIt
KalshiRegulated exchange, many categories
PolymarketGlobal markets, US close-only
RobinhoodPartner exchanges' contracts, in the app
BitPredictCrypto calls scored on accuracy
ManifoldPlay-money markets on any question
MetaculusScored forecasting questions
Wider markets means a different regulator, different fees and often a different rule about who can use it. Nothing staked means giving up the payout in return for no loss. The table puts the six side by side, with BitPredict first.
| Alternative | What you put in | What it covers | Read from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing, free | Up or down calls on listed coins over 24 hours, scored on accuracy | How it works | |
| Real money | Event contracts on many kinds of events, regulated by the CFTC as a designated contract market | Kalshi help centre | |
| Real money (USDC) | Fee categories include crypto, sports, politics, economics and geopolitics; the United States is close-only | Polymarket docs | |
| Real money | Event contracts from partner exchanges, for US residents in states where they are offered | Robinhood support | |
| Play money | Any question a user creates a market for; play money cannot be converted to cash | Manifold about page | |
| Your forecasts | Forecasting questions, scored with baseline and peer scores once they resolve | Metaculus scores FAQ |
Kalshi, Polymarket and Robinhood cover far more than politics, each with its own fees and access rules.
Kalshi says it is regulated by the CFTC as a designated contract market (Kalshi help centre, read November 2026). Polymarket charges only takers, at a rate that depends on the category, and its documentation lists the United States as close-only (Polymarket fees, read November 2026). Robinhood lists event contracts from partner exchanges for US residents, with a commission capped at $0.01 per contract plus an exchange fee of up to $0.01 (Robinhood support, read November 2026).

BitPredict and Manifold put no money at risk, and Metaculus scores your forecasts.
BitPredict is the one to try for crypto. You call a coin up or down over 24 hours, the call settles against the real market price, and your hit rate goes on a public leaderboard. It does not pay out, and it does not cover politics.

Manifold runs play-money markets on any question, and its mana cannot be converted to cash (Manifold about page, read November 2026). Metaculus scores forecasts once questions resolve (Metaculus scores FAQ, read November 2026). If politics is why you came, Manifold lets anyone create a market on any question, politics included, which is also why quality varies.

Check the cap and the category before you move, because those are what you are changing.
- You want crypto markets: BitPredict for free calls, or a real-money venue after checking its fees and whether you can use it from where you live.
- You want a higher ceiling than PredictIt's per-contract limit: check the limits on Kalshi, Polymarket or Robinhood on their own pages first, because they are not set the same way.
- You want to keep trading politics: PredictIt, Kalshi and Polymarket all list political markets, so compare fees and access on each before moving money.
- You want no money at risk: BitPredict or Manifold. You want scored forecasting: Metaculus.
Money or not, nothing here is financial advice. If you are weighing crypto bets specifically, crypto betting explains how the routes differ.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best PredictIt alternative?
It depends on what you want to change. For wider real-money markets, Kalshi, Polymarket and Robinhood. For nothing at risk, BitPredict for crypto calls and Manifold for play-money markets on any question, and Metaculus if you want scored forecasting.
Is there a free alternative to PredictIt?
Yes. BitPredict is free and scores your crypto calls on accuracy, and Manifold uses play money that cannot be converted to cash. Metaculus is a forecasting community that scores forecasts once questions resolve.
What is PredictIt's limit per contract?
CFTC Letter 25-20 sets each participant's limit in any one contract at the federal limit on individual campaign contributions per election, per candidate, which it puts at $3,500 and says is adjusted over time. Check predictit.org for the current figure.
Can I trade crypto on PredictIt?
The CFTC letter that governs PredictIt restricts the market to political events, so crypto price markets are not what it describes. For crypto, BitPredict offers free calls, and Kalshi, Polymarket and Robinhood list crypto markets for real money, where available to you.
Is PredictIt legal?
It operates under a CFTC no-action letter that allows a not-for-profit market for political events. That is the regulator's position as written in the letter, and it is not legal advice.
